Despite the unconscious run-time and the understandable solemn energy given to the anti-Ice protests, as well as consisting of Sly Stone, the 2025 bet Awards tried their best to properly remind the 25th anniversary of Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater on June 9.
To celebrate Bet, Bet Compiles a fantastic series of artists, including newcomers (Leon Thomas, Ravyn Lenae, Elmiene), Industriens Veterans (Ledisi, Mýa, Ti) and Ultimate Icon Honorees Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Jamie Foxx and Kirk Franklin.
Night’s most nominated artist Kendrick Lamar (10) took five new trophies home, including this year’s album for the year of GNXBest male hip-hop artist and video director for the year with Dave Free. His Grand National Tour Co-headliner, SZA, won the best female R&B/Pop artist, while several remarkable actions took home their first efforts. Shortly after shredding of himself through “Mutt” Leon Thomas was appointed best new artist; Glorilla used his Dr. Bobby Jone’s best gospel/inspirational award acceptance speech to Quip that this victory was her first after 13 previous nominations. Of course, Songbird Supreme knocked the air out of the room for a few seconds before revealing her Ultimate Icon Award is the first effort for her 35-year-old career.
Out of music won the 2025 Tony’s host Cynthia Erivo Best Actress Thanks to her work in Evil, and Denzel Washington if Othello Was completely transferred to Tony Recognition, took home best actor. Blue Ivy Carter, who still shows out every night of her mother’s blockbuster Cowboy Carter Tour, won the Youngstars Award, which marked the third effort for her young career.
Viewers at home were treated with an almost five hour show (including the red carpet before show), but even that kind of run -time can’t catch everything going on. Here are the seven best 2025 bet awards moments that you may not have seen on TV.

Teyana Taylor & Aaron Pierre has a flirty night out
When she was not dazzling viewers with her futuristic live debut of her new “long time” single, Teyana Taylor enjoyed a flirty night on the city with her new Beau, Aaron Pierre. The Mufasa Actor who are also ready to play in Teyana’s upcoming Escape Room Visual album, packed his arms around her lady as the two took the other stars’ performances.
-
Doechii & Keke Palms show up with each other
Although the cameras picked up some of their contagious report early in the show, Doechii and Keke Palmer, both nominated last night (June 9), easily the most entertaining celeb pairing at night. There was a smaller buzzy atmosphere in the room this year, but the two ladies who sang with all their respective creatures more than compensated for it.
Actually Keke should throw dooechii in the next One of them days Movies, now that a sequel is confirmed!

Taraji P. Henson’s Fire Bender -The Smile
While Ciara introduced Teyana Taylor’s performance, Taraji P. Henson sat 20 meters in the air and grabbed a fiery bouquet of fake roses. The flowers were on fire throughout Ciara’s whole speech, and the flames lasted until the very first word in the monologue she delivered as the first element of Taylor’s set. Not surprisingly, Henson handled his time up there as a master; Maybe she noted from Glorilla’s hanging from the ceiling during her project 2025 Awareness speech at last year’s prices.

Kendrick Lamar’s surprise appearance
Although he is still in the middle of what is already one of the biggest hip-hop trips in history, Kendrick Lamar found himself back to his hometown of LA to pick up five new trophies. Lamar was not announced as an artist or program manager, and his participation was not confirmed to them on the red carpet he chose. Furthermore, most people did not expect to see him or SZA because of their Grand National Tour plan.
Nevertheless, when Keke Palmer announced the winner of this year’s album, and Kendrick lowered from his seat to the stage – the Peacock Theater popped up the feet. Each neck in the room craneed to find the best possible angle of k.dot, which easily gives Compton MC The Night’s Most Efferent Amergure of a winner of non-gathered ICON AWARD. Especially when the camera picked up a little bit of Sza, more people shouted in the crowd an excited confusion – she jumped out to accept her female R&B/Pop artist award earlier in the night.

Doechiis Trump-Recipient Split the audience
During his acceptance speech for best female hip-hop artist, Doechii quickly moved his attention from his very first effort to the intense LA protests against IS that happens blocks away from the Peacock Theater.
“I want to address what is happening right now outside the building,” she said. “There are ruthless attacks that create fear and chaos in our society in the name of law and order. Trump uses military strength to stop a protest. And I want you to consider what kind of government it seems to be when every time we exert our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us. What type of government is it?”
While the applause may have sounded robust at home, the energy in the room was a little more stinging. About a third of the room gave the Grammy-winning rapper a standing ovation, another third changed in their seats and looked visibly uncomfortable while the remaining thirds held their reactions neutral. Given the vicinity of the turmoil, the audience’s muted response was rather eyebrow-raising-but maybe the room still came down from its 106 & Park-Branded high.

Talent stranded outside the theater under 106 & Park Tribute
While Ashanti, Mýa, Amerie, B2K, Jim Jones, Keyshia Cole, Ti and Bow Wow close the scene with a scattered tribute to 106 & ParkNearly a hundred audience members were excluded from entry to their seats under the opener. Although the delayed seating was probably a matter of production protocol, the unfortunate experience did not discriminate.
It was not only seat -fillers and participants who were not celebrity who left the performance outside the club; Proud family Actress Kyla Pratt was among those crushed by the increasingly frustrated crowd. Also streams and Billboard The tire star Kai Cenat and his crew pushed through the crowd and documented the entire trial live on the power.

Jennifer Hudson closes at Peacock Theater
Jamie Foxx’s tribute-as contained Stevie Wonder, BabyFace, Ludacris, T-Pain, Doug E. Fresh and Tank, honoring his plays, stand-up and music careers easy the best of the ultimate icon-priced recipients.
While Tank’s Jamie-As-Ray-Charle’s tribute was as funny as it was impressive, it was Jennifer Hudson’s surprise look for “Gold Digger” that brought every person into the room to their feet. Similar to her show -stop “Purple Rain” coverage in memory of Prince at the 2016 Bet Awards, Hudson went into the stage crying for the barriers, the combined force of her presence and voice that sent the amount of overdrive. Tons of surprise guests appeared last night, but no one was able to take to command the room as Jhud did.
