A respected man/woman-to label yourself to stand out

By Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter

An article in the Brainz magazine reminded me of an old song that carries relevance to many of you.

Why do you stay in that job?

I read an article in Brainz Magazine, it’s Brainz Magazine, where a coach talked about her own matches with coaching and starting her business as a coach. She employed a coach to support her. And the coach said I just need to read the exact line, “No one will find out about you if you are hiding you.” And it reminded me of an old song of a band called The Kinks, you can look it up. It is called well respected man. And it was talking about a man who was regular, he goes to work at. Nine comes home at. 05:30. Takes the same train every time. He is common. And he has ambitions and perversions. And he’s ordinary. And frankly, he’s boring and boring.

And the point I want to do for you is most of you, I will not say that you are boring and boring, but your ordinar. You are commonly professional. There is very little that makes you stand out from others. And we live in a culture where the ability to stand out is important, professional and personally.

I do not suggest you become Kardashian. We will not talk about the kind of standing out. But how do you become known and respected for what you do and for who you are. And if you think he could do it by going to work at. 9 and come home at. 05:30 and sitting in front of a TV set, I think you’re wrong.

So the goal of you professionally and probably for you personally is to get involved, to do things that allow others to know about you. Otherwise, having this dull life, this dull career, this is a respected man, doing the best is so conservative (and it is not about your politics being conservative (. It’s about you and the life you live and whether you are willing to get out of your way and get ahead of people.

Now some people want to say, “Ahhh, what is she doing? What is he doing,” because it’s their life and they will keep you in the same box they have always known you to be in.

And I’m not saying it’s easy, but done over time, taking small steps to make people know you are making a difference. So, for example, you can find podcasters doing shows related to what you want to be known for and you can be interviewed. You can write and publish it on LinkedIn and share what you write with others. You can make video for YouTube, Facebook, anywhere and become known for your expertise. And then people start looking and they start to find you.

Small videos, small articles, shared articles, performed over time allows you to be seen as different from the well -respected man or woman in the song. So get o, out there and start establishing your reputation for what you know and who you are. And I’m not talking about within your own business. It’s a fine starting point. And you have to be known there. But outside your company, outside your closest universe, in the other social circles you travel in, so people know who, trust and respect you, and that you are at the top of the mind when we think of someone for a role.
