Close to two decades from its exit from the new order, bassist Peter Hook has not faded in his animosity towards his former bandmates and felt the group a “bad cover version” by himself.
Hook was one of the basic members of New Order that formed in 1980 after the death of the Joy Division’s Ian Curtis. Hook with Joy Division -Bandmates Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris completed their first lineup with the addition of keyboardist Gillian Gilbert. New order would continue to receive widespread recognition in the decades that RepublicThere hit No. 11 on Billboard 200.
In 2007, the new order would be split, although Hook would not return to their reformation in 2011, instead of choosing to continue with his new band Peter Hook & The Light. A long -term legal battle related to the reunion would eventually be decided in 2017.
In a new interview with British publication In the paperHook says he retains a feeling of animosity towards his former band and notes that he has not spoken to vocalist and guitarist Sumner of 17 years. “As most reconciliation does when you first get over the euphoric honeymoon, you soon realize why you couldn’t get – King Stick them – and those you,” he explains. “I’m not saying I’m Mr. Perfect.”
“I don’t think they’re a new order. They don’t sound like something like them,” he continued. “I’ve seen them play songs [online] Recently, and they have dropped the bass lines and play it as a weird, bad cover version of a new order course. So the enmity is obviously still there now. ”
Hook also claimed that his thoughts are shared by audience members in modern new order shows, where fans allegedly contact him to complain about current performances. “They’re like,” You can’t hear the bass! “” He noted. “Obviously, there is some complacency that one could adopt. But I am obvious to all that.”
Hooks comments come when he launches a series of shows with the light in which they perform New Order’s album from 2001 2001 Get ready Full together with a selection of hits from both Joy Division and new order. Hook was launched in the UK this week and brings its tour to North America in May.
