Beths announce us tour dates along with the new single, ‘Metal’

New Zealand Indie -Outfit Beths is ready to enter their new era and reveal a new signing, new single and new tour dates.

The Auckland-formed quartet made their return this week with the release of New Single “Metal” that arrives as their first piece of new music since 2023’s extended edition of the previous year Expert in a dying field LP. The original record peaked at No. 6 on the Heatseekers diagram, while the reissue also included new single “Watchits The Credits”, which also included on Barack Obama’s summer list in 2023.

Alongside their 2025 return, Beths has announced their signing to Epitaph Sister Label Anti, which apparently indicates an imminent message about their fourth album. Meanwhile, however, the group has preview of what is to be delivered with “metal”, a single born out of a time of strict tour, mental health struggle and several diagnoses for vocalist and guitarist Elizabeth Stokes.

“In some ways, ‘Metal’ is a song about being alive and existing in a human body,” Stokes explains. “It’s something I’ve been acutely aware of in the last few years, where I’ve been on what you might call a ‘health trip’.

“In parts of the last few years, I felt like my body was a vehicle that had led me pretty well so far, but was breaking down, something I had little or no control over,” she adds. “All steps in Rube Goldberg Machine of Life are so unlikely, and yet we are here in it. I have a hunger and a curiosity to learn about the world around me and to learn about myself. And in spite of all the way my body feels like a broken machine, I still wonder about the complexity of such a machine.”

“I can hold that knowledge in one hand, and yet I can point with the other hand to my reflection and just be like ‘you are S – t.’ Or ‘ugly.’ Or ‘worthless’, Stokes concludes. And these are variations of the ‘short word’ mentioned in the song. “

In addition, Beths has also announced a comprehensive global tour that will be launched in the UK in September prior to a race of European shows, and then wrapped with a 26-date race of North American performances between October and November.
