German rockers scorpions have run into health problems in the middle of their 60 -year anniversary and cancel a few South American dates due to a respiratory infection suffered by singer Klaus Meine.
The group went to social media this weekend to reveal that they would cancel their Saturday (April 26) Date in Buenos Aires, Argentina to Meine’s health.
“It is with great regret that scorpions cannot appear in Buenos Aires tonight,” the band wrote. “Klaus has been given a virus and suspected laryngitis and unfortunately is unable to sing. The band sends enormous excuses to all their beloved fans in Argentina and is extremely disappointed not to be able to play.”
Now the group has been forced to cancel another date as Meine’s condition fails to get better, with the band again and notices that their appearance at the Monsters of Rock Festival in Bogotá, Colombia has now been axis.
“Klaus has still not recovered from the virus and the respiratory tract infection, which forced the recent Buenos Aire’s dannullation for scorpions and unfortunately is still unable to sing,” says a statement. “The band sends massive excuses to all their loyal fans in Colombia and is again extremely disappointed not to be able to play in one of their favorite countries.”
In both cases, the group noticed their willingness to “do everything to return” to Argentina and Colombia.
Scorpions launched their 60 -year anniversary tour in March and launched with a number of dates in Mexico before performing in Brazil and Chile. Originally, the showers had to be launched in February with a Las Vegas stay on PH LIVE on Planet Hollywood. However, these dates were postponed due to drummer Mikkey Dee’s ongoing recovery process following a diagnosis of sepsis.
“We regret to inform you that, due to Mikkey Dee’s sustained improvement from his recent admission, we have made the decision to postpone our upcoming home to the Las Vegas stay for August 2025,” SCORPIONS wrote at the time. “Our brother’s health and well -being are of the utmost importance. We wish Mikkey a full and quick recovery and look forward to rocking with you all again soon!”
Currently, scorpions are scheduled to resume their tour with an Ecuador show on May 3 with shows in Mexico to follow days later. A number of European dates during June and July precede their return in August, when they perform their vulnerable Las Vegas stay.
