Billie Joe Armstrong shares the message of solidarity in the middle of LA -Protester

Green Day -frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has shared a message of support in the middle of protesters gathering against American immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) and Trump administration’s recent implementation of the National Guard in Los Angeles.

On Sunday evening (June 8), Armstrong released a protest excerpt from the center of LA via Instagram stories, caption with an intermediate finger emoji and an ice cube. The clip contained a live uptake of “F – Off”, a track from Saviors (Édition de luxe)The Deluxe version of Green Day’s 2024 album, released in May 2025.

The position comes in the midst of increasing criticism of federal attacks in southern California, which saw ICE agents detained dozens of individuals alleged to be undocumented immigrants. The crash was quickly followed by the unused deployment of the National Guard troops to LA, which marked one of the first times in modern history that the guard was sent to a state without the governor’s approval.

California’s Governor Gavin Newsom threw the speed as a “serious violation of the state’s sovereignty” in a letter issued on Sunday afternoon, while LA mayor Karen Bass repeated that mood and called the situation “provoked chaos” during a press conference.

Armstrong’s statement also follows comments from Finneas who claimed he was being tear -aerial while participating in what he described as a “very peaceful protest” in the center of LA

The Grammy-winning producer and artist released several Instagram stories and wrote: “Tear-gased almost instantly by the very peaceful protest in the center-they encourage this.” Finneas also repositioned a video showing 9News Australia’s correspondent Lauren Tomasi was hit in the leg of a rubber ball while reporting live from the stage.

The protests began on Friday in response to ice attacks in several companies in the Los Angeles area. By Sunday, the National Guard had arrived in the city, and pictures of heavily armed officers confronting peaceful protesters, including journalists and musicians, began to flood social media.

For Armstrong, this latest resistance acting is square within a decades long tradition of speaking against institutional injustice. Green Day’s discography is filled with political comment from the anti-Bush feeling of American idiot to recent criticism of pistolds and authoritarianism.
