Weekend Warriors: It’s no longer about training
By Jeff Altman, Big Game Hunter
At intervals since the beginning of 2021, I have polished people over whether they are planning to work this coming weekend.
I did it because I noticed that my own schedule is expanding to do all the things needed to follow as a coach. I thought other people could experience something similar.
My particular unscientific voting asked the question:
Are you planning to work this weekend?
The respondents were offered 3 possible answers – yes, maybe, no.
I expected to find out that about a third of respondents would say they planned to do so.
The people I am associated with and who follow me are primarily white collar workers and US-based. It may be because of many years that I did not accept connection requests from OUS because I only performed US-based search work. A few years ago, I began to change this policy and accepted non-American requests. It is rare for me to accept them from parts of Africa that are known to have sent a message about how a member of their non-existent national royalty or a member of their military leadership recently died and demanded assistance to their property.
On average I found that between 44% and 58% of respondents planned to vote over the coming weekend, Exceeds a lot my expectation.
People reported to run a network meeting, software consultant, run a side business and catch up on pending items.
Whatever they do, people work more weekends than ever before.
