For those of you who are currently working and feeling unsure about changing jobs in the midst of what can only be described as a terrible job market for LinkedIn users, here are a few questions to ask yourself to become aware of where you stand with your current workplace:
1) Do I know what is expected of me at work?
2) Do I have the materials and equipment to do my job properly?
3) Do I have the opportunity at work to do what I do best every day?
4) In the past seven days, have I received recognition or praise for doing a good job?
5) Does my supervisor or anyone at work seem to care about me as a person?
6) Is there someone at work who encourages my development?
7) At work, do my opinions seem to count?
8) Does the mission/purpose of my company make me feel that my job is important?
9) Are my employees (employees) required to perform quality work?
10) Do I have a best friend at work?
11) Has anyone at work in the last six months talked to me about my progress?
12) Have I had opportunities to learn and grow in the last year?
13. At work I am treated with respect.
14. My organization cares about my general well-being.
15. I have received meaningful feedback in the past week.
16. My organization always delivers on the promise we make to customers.
These come from Gallup’s Q12 survey, which suggests that managers should consider the needs of employees when managing people and helping them stay engaged. These are listed for the employee to consider.
If you are currently working but are not comfortable with your workplace, ask yourself how well your current company meets your needs.
