“You can’t get much done in life if you only work on the days when you are doing well. “
~ Jerry West
Take it easy
It used to be common for people to end a conversation with someone by saying, “take it easy” as if it should be what a person should strive to do. It was a thrown statement like answering the question, “how are you” by saying “fine.” No thought went into the answer. It was a response born of habit that gave an encouragement to be average. When I think about the average, the first synonym that comes to mind is “mediocre.”
Why would you ever encourage someone to be mediocre? Still, millions of people still end conversations every day with this “encouragement” or the like.
I have adopted another ending to my conversations that people have noticed and I hear adoption. I end my conversations saying, “Be good.” The first time or two people hear it, it scares them. Then they like it as a guilty pleasure.
When you keep out of the days you don’t feel best and understand that you need to do it anyway, you must first ask yourself, “what is possible now,” and then remember yourself, “Be good.” Let it be a lighthouse for your best self.
Do you play according to someone else’s rules
