Mark Anthony Dyson sent me message during the 4th of July weekend and asked for input into an article he wrote about what recruiters are looking for. I took over what they look for in a resume.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a resume template?
What I was looking for was:
1. Do they have experience doing what my client or clients need someone to do?
2. Where did they do that? It is both like this recently and on which company. Certain companies are more attractive to specific companies’ customers because of the employee’s brand.
3. Can I find the info that my client will worry about within a side down of their resume?
4. Will their LinkedIn profile match their resume? Remember, I recruited. I dig in LinkedIn to find people. I wanted CV and LinkedIn profiles to be congruent, not identical, but in accordance with each other.
5. Are the locals for the client? Are they willing to travel if that’s what my client was interested in it? If my client would not move anyone or pay for interview expenses, I would know if they would pay their own way for interviews and relocation.
6. Write the resume and profile well enough to demonstrate good written communication skills? Of course, it does not guarantee oral communication skills, but it helped.
7. Where did they get their degree from? There is a difference between the two bus – Boston University and Bombay University.
Should I specify my availability in my resume?
